Quotes and Notes January 18, 2015
“I suppose that every one of us hopes secretly for immortality; to leave, I mean, a name behind him which will live forever in this world, whatever he may be doing, himself, in the next.”–A.A. Milne (His birthday, January 18, 1882)
Milne gave us Winnie the Pooh and left us with something to smile about, something profound to think about, and something for the ladies to say, “awww” about.
Your life, lived well, is your legacy. Last night I read an article in The New Yorker about smiling. It said, “Happiness, we know, results in smiling, but the converse is always true: the act of smiling can create feelings of happiness” (Jonathan Kalb). And there lies one’s legacy—practice smiling to create happiness. Be known for sharing a smile.
Everything is going to be all right.
