Quotes and Notes #141, March 25
“What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but good trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life’s pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.”–Joseph Addison
I had a friend named Leon. I always looked forward to seeing him because he always shared a smile with me. I knew that he had endured a lot of hardships and that he had lost his wife to cancer, but he always had a smile for me. Leon died a few years ago.
Leon lives on in my mind, though. I can still picture him walking down 4th Avenue with his shoulders back and a big smile on his face.
I hope that I will be remembered like that—What a legacy.
