Quotes and Notes #158, April 11
“We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom, and fun.”–William Glasser—
My wife says that the two greatest emotions are fear and love. Dealing with fear allows us to survive and love makes the survival worthwhile.
Next follow the extras: power, freedom, and fun.
I like fun. Fun is what lets us run around in the rain and laugh. Fun is contagious, and you don’t need a facility or equipment for fun—you can have fun in the privacy of your own mind in the dark of night if you wish. Also, there’s a division of fun called “silly.” It’s all right to be silly any time you feel like it.
