The Trip Takes Us

Quotes and Notes #187, May 11

“A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.”—John Steinbeck—

In traveling, as in life, it is best to be flexible and to accept the changes that inadvertently happen with our plans. The ability to accept changes instead of fighting them helps the journey to be more pleasant and easy.

To pay attention to the sights and happenings along the way brings learning which in turn leads to comfort.
