Quotes and Notes #219, June 17
“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”—Oscar Wilde—
Mrs. Brooks was my third grade teacher sixty some years ago. She wrote on my report card, “Johnny wastes too much time daydreaming.” I still have a picture of that card in my mind. I wanted to be a good boy, so I made a silent pledge to stop daydreaming. I never got around to keeping that pledge, though.
Dreaming during waking hours is a wonderful way to go to quiet places and rest your mind, to re-charge the batteries of your soul, and to calm your fears and doubts. Time spent dreaming is far from wasted.
