Do You Love Your Job?

Quotes and Notes #313, September 13

Love your job and take pride in it.

“If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, go out and sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures. Sweep streets like Handel and Beethoven composed music. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say, ‘here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.’”—Martin Luther King, Jr.—

I think that is a totally magnificent quote.

If you like what you do for a vocation—or an avocation—you will be happier and more peaceful.

If you don’t like what you do, then it is time for a change. You have two main choices in this. You may change your job, or you may change your attitude.

Remember that your attitude is something that is truly yours, that no one but you can regulate. So, smile and be happy. It will become a habit. And be proud of what you do, whatever it is, your career is, like attitude, a true possession.

Share a smile on the job.
Everything is going to be all right
