Quotes and Notes #316, September 16
“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.”—Frances Hodgson Burnett, “The Secret Garden”—
As a response to yesterday’s article, a wise friend sent me the following:
“Many years ago, shortly after my wife died, my father was visiting me and I was very blue and low in spirit. I wondered to him why I was left with a child I did not know how to raise? Why I had been singled out to carry burdens beyond my strength? He said, ‘If you hear static, noises, bad music, or other unpleasant sounds it’s time to change the station.”’—Robert E. Hicks—
Sometimes it’s like there is a large boulder that fell on the road, blocking all travel front of us. The rock is too big to move. We must study a while before we realize that the alternative plan would involve going over or around the barrier. Again, “It’s time to change the station.”
