Is Rest Your Neglected Garden?

Quotes and Notes #351, October 21

“It is very important that we re-learn the art of resting and relaxing. Not only does it help prevent the onset of many illnesses that develop through chronic tension and worrying; it allows us to clear our minds, focus, and find creative solutions to problems.—Thich Nhat Hanh—

We seem to run all day—to pay the bills, invest in the future, get ahead, perform endless jobs, and when we’re finished with that, we run even more.

It is good to take a bit of time each day to sit and relax, to contemplate and meditate. Only a few minutes of contemplation will act as a powerful pill of reconstitution. Try it.

Smile for your inner happiness
Remember, you are the only you in the world
And remember that, Everything is going to be all right

For Success, Plant the Seed and Wait…

Quotes and Notes #350, October 20

Till the soil, plant the seed, nurture the beginnings, and wait

Till the soil, plant the seed, nurture the beginnings, and wait

We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.”—Helen Keller—

We must first till the ground and then plant the seeds. We must watch the results of our endeavors through the ravages of drought, disease, storm, flood, and time before we attain the ultimate goals.

In a world in which “instant gratification” seems to be too slow, it is best to look to patience for true goodness and value. The harvest will come

Don’t forget to share a smile
And that you are the only you in the world
Everything is going to be all right

For I Have Promises To Keep…

Quotes and Notes #349, October 19

“And miles to go before I sleep.” –Robert Frost

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”—Robert Frost—

It’s all right with me if you want to think from a different category, but is it all right with you?

Do you feel a bit of trepidation when your thoughts or your life veers off in a sort of different direction? Be bold and follow where your mind leads you—that’s how you learn.

In another poem, Robert Frost says,
“The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”

A lot of those promises should be ones that you made to yourself.
To share a smile should be one of those promises.
Everything is going to be all right

Afraid? Insecure? Here’s The Answer…

Quotes and Notes #348, October 18

Remember, you are the only you there is

Remember, you are the only you there is

“Speak in French when you can’t think of the English for a thing—
Turn your toes out when you walk—
And remember who you are!”—Lewis Carroll, “Through the Looking Glass”—

Today’s key word is “remember”
Remember when people hurt you
Remember when you feel insecure
Remember when you feel like nobody loves you
Remember when you are overcome by fear
Remember all of the things that make you feel bad about yourself
And then, after all of that—REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE—

Remember that you are Wonder Woman, Superman, Mighty Mouse—remember that you, and you alone control your attitude. This makes you all-powerful. Remember that you are the only you in the world and if they don’t like it they can…well, you get the message.

Share a smile with everyone who has insecurities—that’s everyone.
Everything is going to be all right.

Love Your Work–Be Happy…

Quotes and Notes #347, October 17

"Work is work, money is money, be happy"--Santos Alonzo

“Work is work, money is money, be happy”–Santos Alonzo

To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.”—Pearl S. Buck—

“Let us realize that: the privilege to work is a gift, the power to work is a blessing, the love of work is success.”—David O. McKay—

One day, I found my friend Santos knee deep in a ditch looking for a water leak. He took a break and we talked for a while. I asked, “Santos, why is it that you have the hardest and dirtiest work but you are still happy, laughing, and joking continuously?”

He thought, took a sip of his coffee, and said, “See Juan, trabajo es trabajo, dinero es dinero (work is work, money is money). We must work to get dinero so we may as well be happy. The job doesn’t matter as long as you are happy. When you get home, there is food and love.”

When I was young, my mother would read me a short story titled, “Never Worked and Never Will.” It was about a wood carver and his friendship with a little girl who liked to watch him work. The wood carver loved his job. The people in the town said that the wood carver was crazy, that he worked harder than anyone around. The little girl understood.

Happiness and optimism work together. Optimism gets better with practice. Practice.
Share a smile with everyone who thinks you are crazy
Everything is going to be all right
