Happy Birthday, Tom…

Quotes and Notes #311, September 11

Gazing upwards

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it is a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”—Dr. Seuss—

Take a break from reality. Think of things that only you can think of and then go visit them. Take some of your friends with you on your mental vacation, maybe Chip and Dale, or Minnie Mouse. Play like a child and enjoy yourself. Be sure, though, to be home before supper time.

Living with Fantasy

Quotes and Notes #186, May 14

“Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it’s a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope, and that enables you to laugh at life’s realities.”—Dr. Seuss—

Sometimes when current circumstances become difficult, complex, stressful, or not particularly happy, it becomes time to relax, close your eyes, and go to visit your personal fantasy.

So, if you use the question, “I wonder what would happen if…” and then follow up with an imaginary, silly story, it will give you a momentary free vacation filled with delight. Of course, one must be careful to not go over the border and move permanently to a life in fantasy land.
