Three Things That Improve With Practice…

The lady is happy

Practice three things–Love, Hope, Optimism

“My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful, and optimistic. We can change the world.”
–Jack Layton
Help others by setting an example. Welcome love, hope, and optimism into your own life. These qualities will become a skill set and your abilities will improve with practice. Good health and happiness will be your reward.

My friend Shannen has been fighting cancer for over eight years. She always has a smile, a hug, and a plan for the future. Practice, practice, practice

Good Things Require Hard Work and Love…

Quotes and Notes # 309, September 9

It takes hard work and love for a lot of things.

It takes hard work and love for a lot of things.

“Gardens are not made
By singing ‘Oh, how beautiful!’
And sitting in the shade.”—Rudyard Kipling—

  • It takes hard work and love of the task to build a flower garden.
  • It takes the same thing for a relationship.
  • It takes the same thing for your personal happiness.

A story I heard fifty years ago was about an ancient king who gathered all of the wise men in the world and said to them, “Go out and find all of the wisdom in the world and bring it to me.”
Ten years later, the wise men returned with 100 volumes of writing.
“That’s too hard to read,” said the King, “You will have to reduce it.”

Ten years later, the wise men returned with ten volumes.
“That’s too long,” said the King, I want something short to read.”

Ten years later the wise men returned. Their spokesman said to the king, “Oh, Great One, we have reduced all of the wisdom of the world to one sentence. Will that be all right?”
The king was delighted and said, “Wonderful. And what is the sentence?”

The wise man smiled, looked at the king and said,
“There ain’t no free lunch.”

Today, it would be well to share a smile with a wise man or even a wizard.

What Are Your Greatest Treasures? Find Them Here…

Quotes and Notes #291, August 22

Nature's pictures lead us to beautiful concepts.

Nature’s pictures lead us to beautiful concepts.

“What is love? I have met in the streets a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, the water passed through his shoes and stars through his soul.”—Victor Hugo—

I found a most interesting image in the end cut on a 6X6 post. I paid attention to it, and it led me to today’s beautiful quote from Victor Hugo which led me to another observation:

Over the ages, there have always been countless numbers of people who had little or nothing. People who didn’t know where their next meal would come from—poor people.

But, over the ages, these people have always had three treasures: hope, love, and laughter. They have known that these three things would help them to live through their roller-coaster lives.

Sometimes we become wrapped up in our possessions, our drama, and our self-adopted stress. Sometimes we lose sight of our true treasures. Remember them, hope, love, and laughter.

After The Storm The Heavens Share a Smile…

Quotes and Notes #213, June 11

“After every storm there is a rainbow. If you have eyes, you will find it. If you have wisdom, you will create it. If you have love for yourself and others, you won’t need it.”—Shannon L. Alder—

The hard times come and go but their passing is accelerated by the support and caring that we receive from our friends, families, and loved ones. We must always be there to return the favor.

The rainbow heralds the coming of a brighter day. It is the heaven’s way of sharing a smile

Karma is a Law of Nature

Quotes and Notes #151, April 4

“Plant seeds of happiness, hope, success and love, it will all come back to you in abundance.  This is the law of nature.”–Steve Maraboli

This is where the concept of karma comes from. And we all know the verse from The Bible, “As ye sow, so shall ye reap.”

When you share the good things, the good things, in turn, give you a good feeling of happiness and contentment.

Start the day with  sharing a smile

Love and Caring in a Large Container

Quotes and Notes #104, February 15

“I buy my clothes large, so I feel comfortable gaining weight. When I love, I do it in two sizes—large, and refill.”–Jarod Kintz

I don’t know about the clothing part of that quote but it does segue nicely into the thought of love. When you love, love big. When you care, care all the way. Follow these rules and you will begin to project an aura of love and caring—this is when karma will kick in. As you project, so will you attract. And always remember to leave room for more. Share a smile and create happiness for both the giver and the receiver.

Great Wealth

Quotes and Notes, #94, February 3
”If you would be loved, love, and be loveable”–Benjamin Franklin

Today, look for the good in the world around you. Take time to appreciate it and then give back to the good as it gives to you. To love and to know love simultaneously is the pinnacle of wealth and well being. Share a smile
