Happiness Gets Better With Practice.

“Whoever is happy will make others happy too.”—Anne Frank—

Anne Frank spoke to us from the inside of a dark storm. We should pay attention to her statement by finding happiness for ourselves and by sharing it with others.

You can be happy by telling yourself you are happy. You can share that happiness in many ways. Happiness is contagious. When you share a smile with someone it travels on and on like the ripples from throwing a pebble in a lake. Your assignment for today is to smile inside, laugh at yourself, and then go out and find someone to share a smile with.

Everything is going to be all right.

ice cream

Quotes and Notes #131, March 14

“Ice Cream is the perfect buffer, because you can do things in a somewhat lighthearted way. Plus, people have an emotional response to ice cream; it’s more than just food. So I think when you combine caring and eating wonderful food, it’s a very powerful combination.”–Jerry Greenfield

A lady once said to me, “Ice cream is good for you. It is 80% air and everyone knows how good air is for the body.” If we add “sharing and laughing” to the above quote, it gives us even more of a reason to enjoy sharing good things with others. Others enjoy it, we enjoy it—everybody wins.

And don’t forget to share a smile

Everything is going to be all right.

Affection and Happiness

True love and security–by David Cooper

“Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives.”–C.S. Lewis—

Affection provides happiness. It begins at home and then extends outward into the world in ever increasing circles. Throw a stone into a lake and watch the ripples traveling outward. Throw an affectionate smile into a group of people and you will find similar results. Today, on Valentine’s Day, instead of confining all of your affection to one place, go forth and share it with everyone you meet. All it takes is a bright demeanor and…and, yes, a smile to share.

What you get by achieving your goals

Quotes and Notes #100, February 10
”What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”–Henry David Thoreau

Today is a milestone on my endeavor to provide 365 of these short observations.

John Prine wrote a line, “We talked …until you said something neither of us knew.”

In the writing of these posts I have come to realize several things, among them:

  • Smiling creates happiness. Sharing a smile is important.
  • Optimism becomes stronger through practice.
  • I can choose my own attitude.
  • “Use your gifts faithfully, and they shall be enlarged.” (Arnold)

Perhaps somewhere, somehow, these realizations are making a difference.

Everything is going to be all right
