What Are Your Greatest Treasures? Find Them Here…

Quotes and Notes #291, August 22

Nature's pictures lead us to beautiful concepts.

Nature’s pictures lead us to beautiful concepts.

“What is love? I have met in the streets a very poor young man who was in love. His hat was old, his coat worn, the water passed through his shoes and stars through his soul.”—Victor Hugo—

I found a most interesting image in the end cut on a 6X6 post. I paid attention to it, and it led me to today’s beautiful quote from Victor Hugo which led me to another observation:

Over the ages, there have always been countless numbers of people who had little or nothing. People who didn’t know where their next meal would come from—poor people.

But, over the ages, these people have always had three treasures: hope, love, and laughter. They have known that these three things would help them to live through their roller-coaster lives.

Sometimes we become wrapped up in our possessions, our drama, and our self-adopted stress. Sometimes we lose sight of our true treasures. Remember them, hope, love, and laughter.

“Immensity to dream in”

Quotes and Notes #178, May 2

Today’s article is halfway to the goal of one a day for a year. A personal milestone.

“A garden to walk in and immensity to dream in–what more could he ask? A few flowers at his feet and above him the stars.” —Victor Hugo, Les Miserables

Today it will be easy to find a garden to appreciate. We can look at all of the lush new green growth and at the newly-planted spring flowers. The corn fields are newly plowed and await the magic seeds that will produce our major food crop.

And the diversity of it all astounds me. The size of gardens ranges from a spindly geranium planted lovingly in an orange-juice can by a kind country grandmother to the sculptured grandness of Versailles. Sometimes I feel that the entire world is my private garden. I will share it with you.

After seeing the garden, it should be easy to share a smile.

Everything is going to be all right.

Wrinkles and Laughter

Quotes and Notes #97, February 6

“When grace is joined with wrinkles, it is adorable. There is an unspeakable dawn in happy old age.”–Victor Hugo

This is for Mom, and for Bob Hicks—and for you if you qualify. There are age wrinkles, and there are laughter wrinkles, merging together to form a feeling of delight and respect. If this is you, enjoy your day and be radiant. If you are not yet at the age of someone who fits the description, find someone who is and give them a big smile because your turn is coming. Tonight there will be a beautiful sunset—somewhere.

Everything is going to be all right.
